Trades and the Trade List
The trade list is where we keep all of our trade information for AAA and Major League.
Please use a standard format on the list(see example at bottom). We typically will first state which players are available and if they are only for a specific position etc. You can also leave what you would like in return blank and let others offer someone for them. After you have listed the players for trade you can put a list of positons you need to fill, this is also a good reminder of any requirements you determine that the team needs. Note: pitchers are the most difficult position to aquire. The pre-season trade window will normally begin on December 1 and run through December 31 with the season starting on January 1 each year. During pre-season window trades are allowed between AAA and BBB, but after the season starts this is not feasable and only trades within the league will be allowed.
Once a trade has been completed and the players moved on the rosters we will move the transaction to the bottom of the trade list under the completed transactions header.
Trade List Examples:
Example 1:
In this example Vancouver has listed specific players for trade and what the team needs. Note that Palm Beach has decided to offer what we call a 2 on 2, which is an acceptable style of offer. Omaha's offer has been rejected. Never feel bad about rejecting a trade offer if it is not what you are looking for or you are uncomfortable with it.
Vancouver - J. Varitek c, B. Robinson 3b, Everett or Tejada ss - need p/1b/2b, (Lou) offers Pryor 2b for B.Robinson Palm Beach offers Fitzmorris/Benoit for either + any hitter thinking JP, (Om) offers Bannister for B.Robinson No JP
Example 2:
This is an example of a 3-way trade. Toledo and Syracuse are offering a player to Dorchester for Renteria and then plan on trading Renteria to Chelsea for Molitor as part of the same trade. If Dorchester refuses to trade Renteria to either team the trade is off or if Chelsea does not want Renteria for Molitor then the entire trade is off. The 3-way trade is commonly used to assist teams aquire the position they need if they do not have a qualifying position to trade, it helps out 3 teams with their needs.
Dorchester- Renteria SS for 1B or OF (Tol) offers Lewis cf/rf for Renteria then (Tol) offers Renteria to Chelsea for Molitor, (Syr) offers Diering cf/rf/lf for Renteria then Renteria to Chelsea for Molitor
Example 3:
This example is may be confusing at first. Buffalo has offered Blauser and Sanchez for a cf or closer, Downing for 1b and Lugo for a draft. The Columbus offer of Butler for Blauser was accepted and now DC is asking if there are any counters another manager would like to offer before the trade is completed, this is something we do on all trades to make sure everyone has a chance counter offer. Wichita offered Jackson or Hiller for Sanchez and Buffalo chose Jackson for Sanchez which means that Hiller will stay with Wichita and not be a part of the trade - DC has also asked for any counters from the other managers on this trade. The Charelston Kunkel for Sanchez and San Antonio Tucker or Gaston for one of the shortstops both were rejected.
Buffalo -Trade Blauser & Sanchez SS for CF, closer, trade Downing dh for 1b,Lugo for draft – (Col) offers Butler cf for Blauser, yes for Blauser-Butler any counters,dc?(Wic) offers Jackson s/r or Hiller s/r for Sanchez, yes for Jackson for Sanchez any counters,dc (Cha) offers Kunkel rp for Sanchez NOTucker or Gaston for one of ss (San)NO
Example 4:
In this example Tuscon has offered a draft to Reno for Howell or Tolleson and Louisville offered a draft for DiSarcina. Let's say Reno accepts Howell for a draft and DiSarcina for a draft, if both players were active on Reno then Reno would decide if they wanted to activate one of their cut player or draft straight downstairs for a certain position. For this example we will assume that Reno chooses to activate a cut player and we will assume that they have 3 hitters and 2 pitchers cut. If Reno activates one of the pitchers then they will have to replace that cut player with a pitcher from their downstairs team, if they activated one of the hitters then they would have to draft a random player from downstairs(hitter or pitcher) since we have to maintain at least 2 of each. Once this has been completed then they can repeat the process with the 2nd draft. Note: the first player in this scenerio drafted from downstairs is elegible to be activated using the 2nd draft.
Reno - Trade Tolleson inf, DiSarcina ss - need lh rp, ca, 1b, 3b, cf, (Tus) offers draft for Roy Howell 3b or Tolleson, (Lou) offers draft for DiSarcina
Example 5:
Here is an example where DC has stated he has no counters before the Mobile offer to Somerville of McMullen for Bell has been accepted by Somerville. DC is stating that he will not be making an offer for Bell and is letting us know this ahead of time. All managers need to use the no counters then your initials when you decide you are not interested or don't have a counter offer. This lets everyone know that you have reviewed the trade and are ok with it allowing us to complete the trade.
Somerville-G. Bell LF for 3b (Mob) offers McMullen 3b for Bell no counters,dc
